HIST 4368 AMERICAN CIVIL WAR & RECONSTRUCTION

Inquiry into the era of the American Civil War and Reconstruction. Examination of the causes of the Civil War, the nature of the conflict both on the battlefield and on the home front, efforts at reconciliation, and the legacy of this period in the historical memory. Topics such as race, the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, and the creation of a 'modern America' will receive considerable attention.
