PA 5010 ORGANIZATIONAL THEORY IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

This course focuses on the theoretical and operational bases of public organizations. The goal of this course is to learn how the major schools of thoughts in orgnaizational theory tell us how to manage complex public and nonprofit organizations in order to increase their performance, better serve the public, and adapt to the changing public sector work environment. This course covers classical management theory, neo-classical management theory, and contemporary organizational theories (structural theory, systems theory, organizational culture). The sub-themes of this course include: organizational rationality, group dynamics, organizational process, organizational change, leadership theory and practice. PREREQUISITE: PA*5001- Global Foundations of Public Administration.
