MATH 4456 DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS

An introduction to dynamical systems: discrete and continuous linear systems. Existence, uniqueness and bifurcation of one-dimensional flows. Fixed points and stability of nonlinear dynamical systems. Phase plane analysis and numerical study of limit cycles, chaos, iterated maps, fractals and strange attractors. Applications from fluid dynamics, mathematical biology, chemistry, social sciences and current research problems.
