HIST 4150 ATHENS IN AGE OF PERICLES-WE

The history of Athens during the height of its greatness, the fifth century, B.C.; the origins and development of Athenian democracy and empire, surviving monuments, both liberary and artistic, as sources for Athenian history; the war with precursor to the degeneration of 5th century values and culture; acknowledgement of the legacy of Athens. Prerequisite: Six hours of history or permission of instructor.
