HED 3231 FIRST AID DISASTER PREP INJ PR FIRST AID DIS PREP AND ACC/INJ PREV

This course prepares the student to deal with common emergencies that may be encountered in their daily lives. Students will learn the skills and techniques necessary to prepare them for both personal emergencies and large scale emergency situations. Students will learn methods and theory of injury prevention. The course includes practical work and training in the recognition and care of sudden illness and injuries and requires the application of appropriate first aid and emergency procedures for common emergencies. This course meets the curriculum of Advanced First Aid CPR and AED programs according to the standards of the Emergency Car and Safety Institute, the American Heart Association and/or other agency approved by the department. Upon successful completion of the requirements of this course students will receive certification in Advanced First Aid, CPR, and AED. Required for Physical Education majors: Elective for others.
