CHEM 3381 PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY LECTURE I

COURSE NO: CHEM 3381 SEMESTER HOURS: THREE(3) PREREQ: CHEM 1084, PHYS 2096, MATH 3451 OR PERMISSION OF INSTRUCTOR ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 18 REQUIRED FOR CHEMISTRY MAJORS Chem 3381 Physical Chemistry I(3) Detailed discussions of the theories of thermodynamics and their applications to the behavior of matter. Therodynamic functions such as U, H, S, G and A, are defined and relationships among them are mathematically derived. The functions are applied in explaining and predicting the properties of gas, chemical equilibrium, phase change solbility, and electrochemistry. (3hr. lec./1 hr. rec.) COURSE REVISED 5/3/11
