Library

The CSI Library offers a variety of information resources and services to CSI students (including distance learning students taking classes online or at the off-campus centers), faculty, staff, University students taking courses on campus, and community members with CSI Library cards. A current CSI student identification card, CSI employee identification card, or community member card is required to check out materials from the library. The library is located on the first floor of the Meyerhoeffer Building and has study carrels, comfortable seating, and reservable study rooms for groups or individuals. It also houses the main open computer lab on campus. The CSI Library collections include books, e-books, audiobooks, reference works, journals, print and electronic newspapers, DVDs, music CDs, and maps. A few distinct collections include graphic novels, board games, and Spanish language materials. The library also offers access to various online information resources and services, including educational films, e-magazines, and research guides. The Special Collections room houses rare and historical items related to the history of CSI, the Magic Valley, and the state of Idaho.

The CSI Library’s online catalog is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection and can be used to quickly identify materials that the library owns.   The CSI Library is now part of CloudSource Open Access, which makes it easy for patrons to take advantage of the growing body of Open Access content available today: OA articles, journals, e-books, open educational resources (OER) and more delivered seamlessly and intuitively from the library homepage.

The CSI Library also provides many regular programs and educational forums such as trivia, crafts, book club, author lectures, and exhibits.  Some reference and research assistance and information literacy instruction are provided. Library instruction is available to classes and student groups and is tailored to students’ specific needs.
