This course is an introduction to basic keyboard skills, including note reading, technique, solo and ensemble playing, and basic theory as it relates to the keyboard.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Read, write, and play all major pentascales and chords HT at MM = 100 in 8th notes
- Read notes and all intervals to the 5th on the Grand Staff
- Finger musical passages written in major and minor pentascale hand positions
- Perform your part in simple group ensembles
- Read, tap & count simple note values in simple meter
- Improvise a melody over a repeated bass line
- Performance solo repertoire of Level 1-2 difficulty
