This course is an introduction to fish diseases and parasites. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Identify and define disease-causing organisms of fish and classify them as viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic or environmental.
  • Identify common signs of fish suffering from a disease.
  • Select different treatment methods for appropriate diseases and chemicals.
  • Write and solve treatment calculations and calculate water flow rates.
  • Explain ways to prevent disease or how to manage disease once it is established.
  • Demonstrate the importance and application of biosecurity precautions.
