This course is a co-requisite with Music Theory 2. It continues the emphasis on aural and keyboard training in scales, rhythms, and intervals. It includes sight-singing using solfege, harmonic and melodic dictation.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Sing short melodies and arpeggiation using specific harmonic function in all major and minor keys.
- Read rhythms in simple and complex meter containing divisions of the beat at sight.
- Sing harmonies and bass lines.
- Improvise (singing) on specific harmonic functions.
- Transcribe and dictate melodies.
