THEA 280 Theatre Portfolio*

This course will provide students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive portfolio which may help them transfer to another college theatre program or gain employment in the theatre. In this course, students will gather documentation of their abilities to demonstrate that they have achieved the Theatre Program Student Learning Objectives. Students will complete this project with a final presentation of their completed portfolio juried by the faculty within the program. This course is intended for students in their final semester for the Theatre Program.

III. Catalog Course Description

This course will provide students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive portfolio which may help them transfer to another college theatre program or gain employment in the theatre. IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

• Create a portfolio demonstrating that he or she has met the Student Learning Outcomes in the Theatre Program which are:
• Display knowledge of the history, terminology, practice, methods and a wide range of the literature of theatre.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the development of theatre through the study and production of representative plays.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the technical and performance responsibilities necessary for theatrical production.
• Demonstrate creativity and problem solving skills as they apply to theatre.
• Demonstrate an understanding of diverse ideas, methodologies, and of cultural diversity.
• Effectively learn to present his or her respective completed portfolio to the theatre faculty for adjudication.

1. Students will include in their portfolios, writing which demonstrates proficiency and documentary evidence of completion of production assignments. 2. Students will submit documentary evidence of fulfillment of assignments in department productions and will review with the theatre faculty their performance responsibilities in an exit interview. 3. Students will submit critiques and reviews of representative theatrical works which students have attended or participated in. 4. Students should be able to articulate and provide concrete evidence of use of their developed skills in their course work and production experience in an exit interview. 5. Student should be able to demonstrate their work in productions that explore relationships and ideas which represent diverse attitudes, cultures, values, etc. Students demonstrate this by including documentary evidence in their portfolio and by defending their portfolio and the work the portfolio represents in the exit interview. Required Exams

Portfolio presentations will be adjudicated by the theatre faculty. The Portfolios themselves will also be adjudicated by the theatre faculty.
