HEAT 103 Intro to Heavy Equipment Basic Systems
Continuing all safety and policy requirements from previous courses, this course introduces the fundamentals of electrical theory concepts and basic electrical system formulas. Students will also learn the fundamentals of heating, ventilation and A/C and other basic systems used in heavy equipment. This course will also teach the use of special testing equipment, schematics, parts lookup, and troubleshooting procedures as well as component tear down and rebuilding. Computer and electronic control systems will also be included.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- 1. Perform electrical systems safety, diagnosis, repair and maintenance.
- 2. Perform starting system safety, diagnosis, repair and maintenance
- 3. Perform charging system safety, diagnosis repair and maintenance.
- 4. Perform lighting systems safety, diagnosis, repair and maintenance.
- 5. Perform HVAC safety, diagnosis, repair and maintenance.
- 6. Comply with personal and environmental safety and practices as outlined in the manual
- 7. Successfully complete the ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Quiz.
- 8. Successfully complete the HVAC final with a “C” grade or higher
- 9. Successfully complete MACS (Mobile Air Conditioning Society Worldwide) training course and receive certification
