The goal of this course is to study the devices and techniques used in contemporary professional writing such as memoirs and essays and to write creative non-fiction.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Broaden their understanding of the genre by reading and discussing creative nonfiction, as well as essays about creative nonfiction.
- Practice various techniques, styles, forms, and conventions of creative nonfiction.
- Experiment with ideas and creative approaches.
- Practice a variety of approaches to develop student’s own unique voice.
- Provide and receive constructive feedback in a workshop setting.
- Revise working drafts both intuitively and objectively.
