III. Catalog Course Description

This course is designed to provide a broad understanding of the US health care system and an introduction to the roles of various members of the health team. Current trends in healthcare delivery are discussed. Selected ethical and legal medical dilemmas are included.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

• Understand and describe the current US health care delivery system, as well as proposed reform measures.
• Identify and describe health care workers, and functions
• Develop greater career awareness, and understanding of health care workers. 
• Increase awareness and understanding of issues, trends and ethics in the health care industry.

Provide students with an overview of health care careers through a variety of assignments, activities, and readings. Provide students real world knowledge of health care careers through professional guest speakers and community engaged learning assignments.
