In this course, students will learn to manage the care of adults with common medical/surgical health problems. The Beginning Medical/Surgical Nursing II course covers half of the body's systems while the Beginning Medical/Surgical Nursing I course covers the remaining body's systems.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Provide nursing care that protect clients and health care personnel
  • Provide nursing care that protects clients and health care personnel from health and environmental hazards
  • Provide nursing care that incorporates the knowledge of expected growth and development principles, prevention and/or early detection of health problems, and strategies to achieve optimal health
  • Provide nursing care that promotes and supports the emotional, mental and social well-being of the client experiencing stressful events, as well as acute or chronic mental illness
  • Provide nursing care that promotes physical health and wellness by providing comfort and assistance in the performance of the activities of daily living
