III. Catalog Course Description
This course will prepare students for employment opportunities in health care as a competent nursing assistant. Upon successful completion, students are eligible for the Idaho State testing required for one to be placed on the Certified Nursing Assistant registry.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- A. Summarize the role, responsibilities, standards of practice, state regulations and characteristics of a nursing assistant within the health care team and the varied healthcare delivery systems in place today.
- B. Recognize the CNA’s legal and ethical role in following HIPAA and OBRA guidelines for the preventing/reporting of abuse and protection of the person’s rights.
- C. Summarize the nursing assistant’s role in developing an individualized care plan for each person, methods of communication used in healthcare setting and techniques for use of effective communication with health care team.
- D. Perform delegated tasks in CNA’s job description and scope of practice safely, competently and efficiently.
- E. Identify the requirements to maintain status on the Idaho CNA Registry.
