III. Catalog Course Description
This course is an expanded reinforcement of the first two terms, concentrating on developing greater oral proficiency and reading skills, with some composition. Students will have the opportunity to increase Spanish proficiency in real-world terms. Prerequisite: SPAN 102 or three years of high school Spanish or permission of instructor.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Review material and concepts from previous Spanish classes and learn additional verb tenses, sharpen oral proficiency and expand on grammar and vocabulary.
- Learn aspects of traditional and current Hispanic culture.
- Initiate and sustain conversations in which they ask and answer questions, give and receive directions, introduce themselves, and report observations and information at a level appropriate to their language exposure and experience.
- Demonstrate creativity in choosing alternative methods (i.e., vocabulary, pantomime, or drawing) in social and/or professional situations where their communication skills have not been effective.
- Integrate various culturally appropriate behaviors into their conversations.
- Improve a conversational level of Low to Mid-Intermediate (based on ACTFL standards).
