This course covers the history of engineering, engineering disciplines, ethics, statistics, graphing and problem solving. It is a required first course for all engineering majors.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Distinguish different engineering disciplines, their functions, ethics and the education required to become an engineer.
  • Apply engineering design methods to solve basic problems and use appropriate technology for proper data reduction (tables, graphs, simple statistics, linear regression, etc.).
  • Understand engineering team fundamentals and dynamics and apply them by completing a project in a team.
