Data Science Specialization

The field of data science utilizes skills in computer science, mathematics, and statistics to extract meaning from data. Large, complex datasets have become common in all fields of study. The Data Science specialization gives students the necessary skills to process, understand, and visualize such datasets, as well as the ability to select, build, test, and revise many types of predictive and descriptive models. In addition to analyzing data, students will develop skills to communicate the structure and patterns in data and the methods, implications, and effectiveness of models to a broad audience.

This specialization requires the least amount of additional credits for students completing the Scientific Computing minor or Computer Science major, but students of any major or minor are encouraged to complete the specialization if interested.
