HIS-387 Modern Cuba

A study of Cuba from the colonial period to the present. Topics will include Cuba's emergence as the most important sugar economies of the nineteenth century, the slave-led revolutionary emancipation movements, Cuban nationalism and ideology as expressed by Jose Marti confrontations with the U.S., and the 1959 Revolution and its aftermath.
