This course focuses on managing care for maternal and pediatric clients with common and complex medical/surgical problems.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Consistently provides nursing care that enhances the care delivery setting to protect maternal and pediatric clients and health care personnel
  • Consistently provides nursing care that protects maternal and pediatric clients and health care personnel from health and environmental hazards
  • Consistently provides nursing care that incorporates the knowledge of expected growth and development principles, prevention and/or early detection of health problems, and strategies to achieve optimal health in the maternal and pediatric client
  • Consistently provides care to improve care delivery by promoting and supporting the emotional, mental and social wellbeing of the maternal and pediatric client experiencing stressful events, as well as acute or chronic mental illness
