Career Centers are specifically designed to assist students with honing their job search skills, identifying and working toward career goals, finding suitable careers or graduate school programs, getting referrals to employers, boosting networking skills.

What is Career Counseling?
Career Counseling is a process that will help you to know and understand yourself and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life decisions.
The Career Counselor is located in the Student Services and Administration Building. To make an appointment, call 661-763-7748.
The Career Counselor will provide individual and/or group instruction in person and/or via technology on:
- The career development process (holistic and lifelong) and its importance in setting and achieving academic and life goals
- Examining values, interests, aptitudes, and life circumstances and how career skills learned now, such as career search and decision-making methods, may be useful throughout a lifetime.
- Clarifying career goals, through intake interviews and administration and interpretation of career assessment instruments; instruction in career exploration using the latest technology and methods; and instruction in career goal-setting and decision-making.
- Work readiness skills including career research, labor market, educational programs, assistance with job placement, the job search process, and resume preparation and interviewing skills

- Career Counseling- understand yourself and the world of work in order to make educated career, educational, and life decisions that will lead to success and fulfillment.
- Career and Major Exploration-assessments fieldtrips, guest speakers, job shadowing (Consider registering for STSU 1018 Career and Major Exploration)
- Internships & Job placement- paid and unpaid opportunities with various industry partners on and off campus (Create your free College Central Network student account for employment and internship updates)
- Work Readiness Education- networking, job search, resume building, application process, interviewing, etc. (Consider registering for STSU 1019 Career/Life Planning)
- Work Experience- earn degree applicable college credit while achieving learning objectives during your regular work hours.
