Core Requirements

4 Credits: Complete one KCA:Global Historical course in the humanities that focuses on a culture or history outside of the US.

Category Five: Artistic Literacy

4 Credits: Complete one ART course or AADM 143 - Boston Arts in Action.

Category Six: Literatures and Languages

4 Credits: Complete one course in LTWR*, SPAN,* FREN, or take CHL 313 - Survey of Literature for Children and Young Adults.

Category Seven: Historical Perspectives

4 Credits: Complete one HIST* course.

Category Eight: Philosophical Thinking

4 Credits: Complete one PHIL course.

Category Nine: Elective in the Humanities

4 Credits: Complete one course of your preference in the humanities or cross-listed with a humanities course.

Category Ten: Capstone

  • LTWR 199: Approaches to Literature is a prerequisite for 300-level LTWR courses
  • SPAN 245: Conversation & Composition is a prerequisite for 200-300 level SPAN courses
  • Two HIST courses are prerequisites for HIST Seminars

Health Humanities (Minor)

The Health Humanities minor adds humanistic perspectives to the understanding of wellness and healthcare through interdisciplinary scholarship and research.

The Health Humanities minor focuses on ethical leadership practice, sensitivity to cultural impacts on health and wellness, and communication skills, helping future practitioners bridge the gap between patients and providers.

This minor includes a Capstone for independent research, and students will be encouraged to take optional internship experiences that explore the intersection of health and culture.
