Paramedic Technology, Associate in Science

Courses and Requirements

The Associate Degree in Science in Paramedic (EMT-P) Technology prepares students for careers in Emergency Medical Service. The program is presented through a series of lecture, laboratory, hospital clinical and field internship experiences. The program meets the requirements of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health/Office of Emergency Medical Services and national guidelines for paramedic education. Graduates are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all EMT, BIO and HES courses in order to graduate. A minimum of 63 credits are required to graduate.

Starting in the fall of 2014, any student enrolled in an associate degree program who is new to NECC and has no academic history at the college, must take at least one course designated as intensive in each of NECC’s six core academic skills in order to graduate. In most cases, the program’s core required courses include these intensive courses. Plan to see an advisor for more complete information about this graduation requirement.
