PT 713 Therapeutic and Scientific Principles of Exercise
Provides students with knowledge of how exercise has an acute and chronic effect on the cardiopulmonary, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and endocrine systems. An emphasis is placed on the physiology of exercise in health and fitness as well as within clinical populations. The benefits and use of exercise are explored across the spectrum of individuals and ages — from those with disease to those who are healthy. Special populations are reviewed with regard to exercise and fitness testing, prescription, and training in the context of physical therapy practice. Offered summer semester only. A minimum grade of B- or better is required. Prerequisites: PT 700 through 711 and IPE 715. (3)
