FSC 4709 FORENSIC GENETICS
This course will discuss the history of forensic genetics and the applications that this discipline has had in legal investigations; the course will also present the different biological testing procedure that have been used and that are currently in use, and the technologies and equipment needed to conduct forensic genetic analyses. DNA extraction, PCR technology, STE fragment analysis will be examined in detail. Moreover, population statistics applied to population genetics will be discussed to introduce the concept of “DNA profile matching”.
