SW 6602 SOCIAL WORK RESEARCH II-EVALUATION PRACTICE

Research II, Evaluation Practice Research, is the second course in the research sequence.  Evaluation Research Practice is designed to prepare the students, as a practitioner, in developing an appreciation and understanding of the following research roles:  (1) consumer of research; (2) evaluator of practice; and (3) producer of research. Evaluation Research explores the advanced research skills of the complex issues which arise in evaluation research practice.  Threats to internal and external validity of research findings will be discussed in depth.  This course builds upon research principles by teaching students in the role as clinician how to use single-system design in measuring clinical outcomes to guide decision-making and assess the effectiveness of their social work practice as a social work practitioner.  It also teaches students how to conduct an agency program assessment by presenting program evaluation based on the logic model and the three types of program evaluation: process, outcomes, and impact.
