PAS 6360 SUPERVISED CLINICAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE: PSYCHIATRY/BEHAVIORAL
This 4-week supervised clinical practice experience provides the student with practical experience in the psychiatric/behavioral care of patients. Under the supervision of clinical preceptor, the student will apply knowledge gained in the didactic phase to actual care of patients as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team. The emphasis of this experience will be on the care of the psychiatric patient including health, wellness and medical care in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings to enhance the continuity of care. Students will be familiar with the diagnosis, treatment and management of psychiatric disorders as well as the impact mental health may have on a patient's medical care. Students will participate in the psychiatric and medical care of the patients and will be evaluated on the knowledge, skills and behaviors expected of a PA student member of the healthcare team in psychiatry and behavioral health
