The Master of Science program in Biotechnology Science is a 34 credit interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for research in the expanding field of biotechnology through course work and laboratory experience. Many students attend the program part-time while working in industry, as courses are scheduled in the evenings. Graduates become proficient in state-of-the-art technologies and are prepared to seek employment/advancement in biotech/pharma or to continue their study toward the Ph.D. degree in other graduate programs in related fields.
Degree Requirements
Students must complete 30 credit hours culminating in a written research project and presentation of research in a public forum.
Required Coursework 15
STME 5411/STME 5413 & STME 5555: Students must complete 6 total credits of research towards a master's thesis. STME 5411 and STME 5413 or STME 5413 and STME 5411 should be taken in sequence (3 credit during the first semester and 2 during the second, or vice versa) Plus 1 credit thesis course during the last semester for preparation of the thesis and defense. Credit will not be issued for STME 5555 until the written thesis has been submitted and defended.
