Only students completing an approved, registered Line Operation Technician apprenticeship program are eligible for this course.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Understand how different weights, loads, sling angles, and equipment affect rigging applications.
- Demonstrate basic electric utility safety practices including grounding.
- Operate a bucket truck and perform aerial rescue.
- Discuss the proper use of relays and how mapping is important to utility work.
- Operate an ATV/UHV safely.
- Describe the operation of distribution transformers and IVVC controls.
- Interpret electrical control prints and operate the Fieldsmart system.
- Install equipment following avian protection guidelines.
- Test distribution protection relays, install an electronic recloser, and operate selective load shedding, loop-feed systems.
