III. Catalog Course Description

Digital Communication explores the challenges, opportunities, and realities that new channels of communication present in the 21st Century. The course will cover personal, academic, and professional applications of a variety of digital communication from email and text to social media. Students will be required to have and use a variety of free Web 2.0 accounts including a Facebook account.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Compose effective digital communication messages as evidenced by a digital etiquette project as well as class communication over the course of the entire semester.
  • Advocate written positions of their choosing regarding current issues of controversy in digital communication.
  • Create their own digital portfolio to demonstrate effective communication using common digital and Web 2.0 applications that they will encounter in personal, academic, and professional settings.
