III. Catalog Course Description
In this course, students will learn to manage the care of adults with complex medical/surgical health problems. The Advanced Medical/Surgical Nursing I course covers half of the body's systems while the Advanced Medical/Surgical Nursing II course covers the remaining body's systems.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Consistently provide nursing care that enhances the care delivery setting to protect clients and health care personnel
- Consistently provide nursing care that protects clients and health care personnel from health and environmental hazards
- Consistently provide nursing care that incorporates the knowledge of expected growth and development principles, prevention and/or early detection of health problems, and strategies to achieve optimal health
- Consistently provide nursing care to improve care delivery by promoting and supporting the emotional, mental and social well-being of the client experiencing stressful events, as well as acute or chronic mental illness
- Consistently provide nursing care that promotes physical health and wellness by providing comfort and assistance in the performance of the activities of daily living
