This course introduces students to the nursing profession and introductory concepts and procedural skills that provides a foundation for nursing practice.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Understands the provision of care and begins to provide nursing care that protect clients and health care personnel
  • Understands the provision of care and begins to provide nursing care that protects clients and health care personnel from health and environmental hazards
  • Understands the provision of care and begins to provide nursing care that incorporates knowledge of expected growth and development principles, prevention and/or early detection of health problems, and strategies to achieve optimal health
  • Understands the provision of care and begins to provide nursing care that promotes and supports the emotional, mental and social well-being of the client experiencing stressful events, as well as clients with acute or chronic mental illness
