This course examines areas of exceptionality as identified by laws and policies related to individualized education and considered as a basis for reflecting on human development/individual differences and diversity in schools. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Develop skills to distinguish between normal and abnormal development.
- Understand concepts relating to general, physical, cognitive, socio-emotional learning, behavioral development, including diagnostic steps for individual and classroom management.
- Identify characteristics related to 13 disabilities and Gifted and Talented students.
- Discuss prevalence, origination, and contributing factors for viable teaching options.
- Discuss complicit school policies, practices, programs, and laws.
- Apply conceptual mapping and essential assessments for motivational learning strategies.
- Discuss learning through stages, instructional teams, and reflective teaching techniques relating to Piaget, Erikson, Kohlberg, and BLOOMÕs.
