Minor Requirements

15 credits

Complete 5 credits of prerequisite coursework.

MAT-175	Single Variable Calculus	4 credits
	or
MAT-275	Multivariable Calculus	4 credits
MAT-285	Introduction to Proof	1 credit

Depending on math placement, students may be required to take MAT-150 prior to taking MAT-175 .

Complete 6 credits of upper-division (300- or 400-level) coursework in Mathematics.

Complete one approved laboratory course from any of the sciences listed below (4 credits).

PHY	Physics
ENV	Environmental Studies

Approved laboratory courses include BIO-201, BIO-202,  CHE-141, CHE-142, ENV-101, ENV-161, PHY-231, PHY-232, PHY-271, and PHY-272 .

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this minor, students will be able to:

1) Demonstrate foundational knowledge of mathematics and mathematical thinking, including logical reasoning, abstraction, generalization, and proof;

2) Use mathematical ideas to solve problems in applied contexts, using computers when appropriate; and

3) Recognize contemporary social and ethical issues related to mathematics.
