Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA)

The Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia program is designed for the Registered Nurse seeking the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

The program is 28 months in length and front-loaded with an academic then clinical phase. Phase I (didactic) begins in August and provides 12 months of didactic and simulation foundation for practice. Phase II (clinical residency), begins the following August and is a 16 month full-time clinical anesthesia residency with the addition of one 2 hour advanced anesthesia principles class per semester.

Students awarded this degree are eligible to apply for the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.

Master of Health Science (MHS)

The Master of Health Science Degree is designed to provide a degree option for students who do not complete the MSNA program at Texas Wesleyan University. This degree option is not available to students who have not completed at least two terms in the MSNA program. To be awarded this degree, the student must successfully complete either of the Nurse Anesthesia Focus or the Health Care Administration Focus. The degree must be completed within seven years of enrollment in the first MSNA course.

Students awarded this degree are not eligible to apply for the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
