General Education Core Digital Badge
Students who enter a postsecondary institution in the 2022-2023 academic year and thereafter, will be able to earn a nationally recognized digital badge upon completion of general education core courses that demonstrate career readiness.* The general education core covers the subject areas of communication, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
This is inclusive of dual enrollment students who complete core courses while in high school in the 2022-23 academic year and thereafter.
The first digital badge in effect for Fall 2022 is Fundamentals of Written Communication.
Minimum Requirements
The Fundamentals of Written Communication digital badge will be awarded automatically upon completion of ENC1101 Introduction to Composition with a grade of "C" or better.
This badge demonstrates the development of skills in the following areas:
- Analytical writing skills
- Critical thinking
- Effective communication
