Program Description: The Electrical Contracting Technician Technical Certificate of Credit is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in residential and commercial electrical industries. The program emphasizes a combination of theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. High school diploma or GED is not required upon admittance, but must be obtained upon 50% completion of coursework.
Employment Opportunities: Electricians install, repair, and maintain all of the electrical and power systems for homes, businesses, and industry. Electricians either focus on construction or maintenance, although many do both. Electricians specializing in construction primarily install wiring systems into factories, businesses, and new homes. The Electrical Contracting Technician program graduating student may seek employment as an apprentice or helper in construction.
