Spring Semester 2019 Catalog

Electronics Technology, Associate of Applied Science Degree

Overview

Offered at the Augusta Campus

Entrance Dates:Every Semester
Length of Program:Five Terms
Credit Hours Required for Graduation: Industrial61
Credit Hours Required for Graduation: Telecommunications63

Program Description: The Electronics Technology Associate Degree program is sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in electronics technology professions. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of electronics technology theory and practical application necessary for successful employment using both manual and computerized electronics systems. Program graduates receive an Electronics Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree which qualifies them as electronics technicians with a specialization in biomedical instrumentation, communications electronics, compute electronics, general electronics, industrial electronics, or telecommunications electronics. High school graduation or GED is required for admission to this program.

Employment Opportunities: The U.S. Department of Labor and other groups predict a growing need for computer systems servicing and troubleshooting technicians. Graduates may seek employment with telecommunications, manufacturing, and communications companies, and other industrial and commercial electronic sales and service outlets. With minimal systems training, the graduate is expected to perform proficiently in industrial organizations or computer networking facilities.
