BIO 336 Microbiology (with Lab)

This course analyzes the diversity of microorganisms, including examining cellular biology and genetics. Students will evaluate the role of microbes in shaping the environment and human health. Topics include assessing microbial control in specialized settings (e.g., food safety, hospitals), exploring immune system defenses, and investigating disease outbreaks and infectious disease tracking. In the laboratory, students will apply microbiological techniques to isolate, identify, and characterize microbial species.
