MSN 7753 Curriculum Development
This course undertakes an in-depth study of curriculum development relating to teaching in nursing programs, healthcare facilities, and/or professional development workshops. Students will engage in constructing a comprehensive curriculum, encompassing its philosophical underpinnings, accreditation standards, broad goals, learning objectives, teaching methods, and evaluation techniques, alongside developing a detailed educator program description. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating findings from evidence-based teaching and learning theories and research to educate populations spanning across the healthcare delivery continuum, inclusive of professional development, academic settings, clinical and healthcare facilities, public health, acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care. Additionally, students will learn to fulfill a leadership role by facilitating and encouraging the exploration and application of evidence-based teaching practices. A key component of this course is promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of curriculum design and implementation.
