MSN 6550 Foundations for Professional Development Practice
This course provides an in-depth exploration of the foundational principles of nursing professional development (NPD). Students will examine the role of the NPD practitioner in fostering continuous learning, improving clinical competencies, and shaping organizational culture within healthcare settings. Key topics include organizational governance, adult learning theories, competency development, ethical and legal considerations, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement strategies. The course integrates leadership principles, digital innovations, and emerging trends in nursing education to prepare students for dynamic roles in professional development. Through case studies, research critiques, and a final project, students will develop the skills necessary to implement strategic educational initiatives and drive positive change in healthcare environments.
