MSE 7405 Curriculum in Special Education

This course provides candidates with knowledge and skills related to a variety of evidence-based instructional practices that will enhance academic learning and everyday functioning with special education students. The course will cover instructional strategies such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and high leverage practices (HLP) for teaching the common core standards in inclusive settings as well as group or individualized instruction in more restricted smaller settings. The course content will prepare candidates on the importance of family engagement, student surveys, interventions, progress monitoring, and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students. Students will apply what they learn in real scenarios throughout the course.
