MSE 7100 Foundations of Special Education: Historical, Legal, and Theoretical Perspectives
This course is designed as an introduction to exceptional education for graduate level teacher candidates. Within the course, teacher candidates explore the history of special education through foundational legal and ethical concepts including court cases, federal and state law, as well as mandatory service provision. Best practices in exceptional education are also researched and applied to the field including the individualized education plan, least restrictive environment, high leverage practices and universal design for learning.
