CHIN 101 Elementary Chinese I
Emphasizes communication. Intended for non-heritage learners. Develops all four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing "with an emphasis on speaking for class activities." Introduces pinyin romanization. Also introduces 80 Chinese characters (either in simplified or traditional form). Uses supplementary audiovisual material to provide cultural and linguistic survival skills.
