SPND 490 Introduction to Exceptionalities
SPND 490 course provides an overview of the major disability categories under IDEA. The course builds on the foundation of typical cognitive and physical child development, devoting attention to early childhood theory in the field of child development. An in-depth study of IDEA disability categories, accommodation strategies, assistive technology to promote independence, language and communication development, social and emotional development, home/school collaboration, culturally responsive teaching and inclusive lesson planning will be a focus of this course. Field work required.
