CHEM 248 Descriptive Inorganic Chemistry
This course is required for a chemistry degree with American Chemical Society (ACS)certification and focuses on descriptive Inorganic Chemistry. Topics include nuclear and coordination chemis try, theories of bonding, crystal field theory, a cids and bases, oxidation-reduction and everyday applications of inorganic chemistry. The laboratory gives students experience with inorganic synthesis,
qualitative analysis, and characterization of optical and magnetic properties of inorganic materials. Three hours of lecture and one three-hour laboratory per week.
