This course introduces the student to a wide variety of M&S-based combat models from throughout the DoD. A broad cross section of joint combat models various M&S domains are examined. A case study on the development of joint combat models is presented for discussion. Several simulations are selected by students for detailed study from among a list of more than thirty models. The set of available joint combat models for study includes COMBAT XXI, ITEM, IWARS, JACATS, JTLS, OneSAF, STORM and many others. The examination of these models is the basis for instruction and discussions on M&S related concepts and issues. Students explore DoD M&S repositories, evaluate recent M&S research, interact with users and developers of joint combat models, and gain insight into current joint M&S issues. Prerequisites: None.
