IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Form and test a hypothesis in the laboratory using appropriate tools and techniques for data collection and/or analysis.
  • The student will be prepared for entry into courses requiring a full course in introductory, calculus-based, physics.
  • Apply foundational knowledge and models of Motion, Newtonian Mechanics, Energy, Momentum, and Thermodynamics to analyze and/or predict phenomena.
  • Use appropriate mathematical tools, including Calculus, in conjunction with physics concepts to solve problems.
  • Understand the scientific method and apply scientific reasoning to critically evaluate assertions.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific information via written, spoken, and/or visual representations.
  • Describe the relevance of the principles of Motion, Newtonian Mechanics, Energy, Momentum, and Thermodynamics to the human experience.
