This course included advanced practice of laboratory skills and procedures to reinforce theory gained in core MLT courses in preparation for clinical internships.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Gain further practice with lab skills to include more advanced procedures used in the medical laboratory with abnormal patient samples and scenarios.
  • Perform lab work in a safe and ethical manner, respecting safety of patients, fellow students, laboratory staff, the public, and themselves.
  • Develop situational awareness and self-confidence in the laboratory to safely organize and prioritize lab work.
  • Develop professional behaviors consistent with the guidelines described by the profession, NIC Medical Laboratory Technology Program and Division of Health Profession.
  • Perform advanced techniques and accurately following standard operating procedures in various laboratory departments basic laboratory testing using lab equipment, instruments, and standard operating procedures in various laboratory department as available
  • Utilize MLT core courses theory for psychomotor activities.
  • Demonstrate accurate/effective psychomotor skills in student lab and internship by utilizing the information from this course.
